Dark / Hyper Pigmentation

Target melasma, sun spots, and dark spots at their source using advanced pigment-clearing lasers and clinically tailored peeling systems.

THE SCIENCE

Targeting Melanin and Cellular Discoloration

Hyperpigmentation is caused by an overproduction of melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color. Triggered by UV exposure, hormonal shifts (such as pregnancy melasma), inflammation, or scarring, these dark patches reside at varying depths in the epidermal and dermal layers.

At Intimaa, we employ a combination approach. Advanced pigment-clearing Q-switched Nd:YAG lasers deliver ultra-short energy pulses that shatter excess melanin deposits into microscopic particles. Your immune system then flushes these particles naturally. Concurrently, medical-grade chemical peels promote rapid cell turnover, shedding pigmented surface cells while calming deep melanocytes to prevent future discoloration.

PROCEDURE JOURNEY

Your Clear Skin Path

What to expect from consult to final glow

01

Clinical Consult

Dr. Rathi assesses the depth of your pigmentation (epidermal vs. dermal). We define a customized session plan incorporating Nd:YAG laser settings or medical peeling systems.

02

Laser/Peel Session

Skin is cleansed. The laser delivers ultra-short pulses targeting pigment deposits. You will feel a snapping sensation (like a tiny rubber band). The procedure takes 20 minutes.

03

SPF Protection

Apply clinical-grade recovery cream and SPF 50+ sunscreen immediately. Pigmented spots will darken slightly before shedding naturally in 3 to 5 days, revealing brighter, clearer skin.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Depending on depth and severity, most patients see excellent improvement within 4 to 6 sessions. Deep melasma or post-inflammatory marks require a structured protocol, with visible results accumulating after each session.
Melanin cells can be re-triggered by UV light or hormonal changes. While we clear existing pigment, maintaining results requires wearing a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen daily and using melanin-regulating skincare at home.
Laser sessions have zero downtime; you might experience mild temporary redness. When combined with clinical peeling, you may experience light flaking or skin shedding for 3 to 5 days, which is completely normal and expected.
